How do I install Idem? It is very
easy:
Download the software, Unzip Idem.zip and just run IdemSetup.exe: this will guide your through installation The setup program will install Idem in your windows \ Program Files directory but you can choose a different one. After installation, configure Idem according to your needs; To reach the help, press menu ? + help. To apply your registration key, please use menu ? + Register Idem to key in your license information received by email |

are in another server domain? Yes, Idem can mirror across other server domains if it runs using an account that have the permissions to access them. |

Can Idem work over any type
of connection between two computers to clone
folders?
Yes, if from the machine where Idem is installed you can reach the folder on the other machine with your Windows Explorer and manually copy/move/suppress files between the two computers, then you should have no problems synchronizing the folders trees with Idem. |

Can Idem replicate ACLs (Access Control Lists - NTFS
Rights)?
Yes . Idem can also replicate files and folders security information and attributes. You can choose to sync permissions or not. |

Yes, of course you just need to set up the
options
before the scheduler runs Idem.exe. In this case you must configure it with the " automatic start up" option in the configuration menu : when the scheduler launch it, idem will start the mirroring of the folders. You can also define if it runs one time, checking option "stop program after the first mirroring operation". If you need a permanent mirroring leave this options unchecked. |

How to apply the new release ? | |
| Dowload
and unzip the last version of Idem. You can install EXE file only or the full package. It is recommended to save your signatures file and your registration key before. After installation of EXE file or the full package replace the shipped signature file by your own signature file saved before. Signature file is "signatures.txt" located in installation directory. If you uninstall previous version and install the new one, please reapply your registration key. |

Can Idem remove empty orphan subfolders on target
location
when synchronizing 2 folders? Yes, Idem can delete an empty target subfolder with option "remove old files on target folder"; just be carefull when adding symmetric bi-directional replication (source folder A to target B followed by B to A ) don't use it for this couple of source target A-->B-->A. |

can use Idem + Open
File Handler
to replicate opened files. You must: - run Idem and OFH on the same machine - define the local drive(s) monitored by OFH: C:, D:, etc note: OFH cannot manage attached/network drives - define source folder in Idem using local drives letters (C:, D:, etc.). when running Idem with OFH, you cannot use UNC convention such \\Server\Share\folder because OFH monitors only local drives. |
