How do I install MacNames? It is very easy:
Download the software, Unzip MacNames.zip and just run MacNamesSetup.exe: this will guide your through installation 
The setup program will install MacNames in your windows \ Program Files directory but you can choose a different one.
After installation, configure MacNames according to your needs; To reach the help, press menu ? + help. 
To apply your registration key, please use menu ? + Register MacNames to key in your license information received
I like the program but I need some other features, can you customize it for me ?

MacNames runs as an application on Windows NT4 / 2000/  Windows XP and also as a Windows service on Win NT, W2K, XP

Which Macintosh servers are recognized?

Microsoft Services for Macintosh (MacFile), Cyan Software MacServerIP or Group Logic ExtremeZ-IP Mac file servers for Windows

Can I rename files from folders that are in another server domain? 
Yes, MacNames can rename across other server domains if it runs using an account that have the permissions to access them. 
 
Can MacNames work over any type of connection between two computers?  
If from the machine where MacNames is installed you can reach the folder on the other machine with your Windows Explorer  and manually rename files on the two computers, then you should have no problems renaming  the folders trees with MacNames.
Can MacNames preserve ACLs (Access Control Lists - NTFS Rights) while renaming for Windows?  
Yes . MacNames keeps files and folders security information and attributes. 
Is it possible to rename and truncate Windows files to 31 characters with MacNames?  
Yes . MacNames can be used to rename and truncate Windows files to 31 characters in order to adjust filenames for use by Macintosh applications .

How to run MacNames as a Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP service ?

If you use it as a service verify the following points:

- do not allow interaction with the desktop
- run it using a true account with the appropriate rights (something like 'Administrator'). Do not use the default 'LocalSystem' account. This is necessary to be able to access files out of the NT box (and this is not our conditions but Microsoft's...)

When used as a service you can start and stop it using a standard start and stop commands of Windows NT. These commands can be included in the standard Windows NT scheduler : AT or WINAT if you have the NT Resource Kit .

Configure MacNames in Configuration + Install/Remove MacNames Service.

Can MacNames be set up for scheduling starting at a certain time using an external scheduler ?
Yes, of course you just need to set up the options before the scheduler runs MacNames.exe.
In this case you must configure it with the " automatic start up" option in the configuration menu : when the scheduler launch it, MacNames will start the renaming process of files in the folders you have selected.
You can also define if it runs one time, checking option "stop program after the first renaming operation". If you need a permanent renaming alive, leave this options unchecked.

What's new in MacNames v1.1L ?

Current release is v1.1l : 
Minor bug fixed in the interface on size of the displayed little clock, improved Windows XP support
How to apply the new release ?
Download and unzip the last version of MacNames (2584 Kb).
You can install EXE file only or the full package.
It is recommended to save your signatures file and your registration key before. After installation of EXE file or for the full package replace the shipped signature file by your own signature file saved before. Signature file is "signatures.txt" located in installation directory. If you uninstall previous version and install the new one, please reapply your registration key.

Yes, in menu configuration you can set up MacNames to include subfolders in renaming processing . 
Can I add other signatures to translate?
Yes, the program is delivered with a common set of Mac signatures in a table Signatures (Type/Creator) / Extensions that you can customize according to your needs. MacNames allows you to know the list of signatures using option analyze and you can also use our free utility MacExplorer to work with Mac files on Windows workstations.
Is it possible to know the list of files and folders renamed by MacNames?
Yes, of course you can activate MacNames log to create a daily reports with filenames changed list.
How many interface languages are available for MacNames ?
The interface is available in English and French language with a help on each language using menu ? + Help.
